Hindu-Mary

One of the unique things about Trinidad and Tobago is our mix of people brought to these islands through circumstances or cause. We are a country made up of East Indians and Africans with smaller groups of Chinese, Middle Eastern and European stock. And with their customs and religious beliefs somewhere down the line faiths find themselves merging together.

Take for instance the stature of Virgin Mary on your left located in Couva, central Trinidad and populated mostly by the East Indian community. By all accounts it represents the Roman Catholic faith, but there are subtle differences in the statues’ features that makes you think otherwise.
