Mervin, Jal and Say no to drugs

No Smoking to Mervin and Jal

These are the inner walls of a former Police Station in the heart of Trinidad and Tobago called the Country, in the district of Brasso. The building once housed the front desk where reports were made and for those who find themselves on the wrong side of the law, the no smoking sign seems more prominent than the rights of those in custody, posted on a Notice to the left of Old English typography.

The two jail cells that once occupied prisoners are practically clean of graffiti. Painted in earth brown, there are three scrawlings carved for posterity, “Mervin, Jal and Say no to drugs”
