In this portrait of Joseph Merrick, I was touched by the presence of a man who risked his reputation. Caught in a monstrous body that kept him paralyzed. He began his journey of self discovery and of self worth. A passage he remembers so tired. Aching limbs. A robust leper shunned, de-beautified. A mirror of oneself, God gave me well. Dissect, lonely, lamp, father, girth, leper, piss, carcass, cunt, suffocate
